Are colonics painful?
A colonic should not be painful. For most people, the speculum can be inserted and removed with very little discomfort. If you have a history of painful bowel movements, dehydration, or excessive gas, the therapist will work with you to minimize discomfort.
Will colonics get rid of good bacteria?
Colonics can help restore normal intestinal flora. Many times, a good quality probiotic can be supplemented to ensure healthy gut microbiome.
How long is a session?
Sessions are usually 45 mins.
Who would benefit from a colonic?
Most people! In our modern day lifestyle, high stress & poor eating habits can create bloating, excess gas, and constipation. Colonics can help regulate that.
Can I have a colonic during my period?
Absolutely! You may experience relief and in some cases slight discomfort. Most people feel better after their session.
How should I prepare for a colonic?
We advise clients to refrain from eating or drinking at least 1.5 hrs before their appointment.
New clients should avoid dairy, gluten, processed sugar, red meat, and alcohol 3-5 days before their colonic.
How can I expect to feel after?
That depends. The majority of clients feel fine if not better after a colonic; in the rare case one can experience what we call a "herxheimer" reaction which is essentially a detox reaction. This can make you feel weak, dizzy, nauseous and in some cases feverish. We advise clients who experience this to stay hydrated, take some electrolytes and rest.
Can I do this before a Colonoscopy?
Colonics are very helpful as a part of your colonoscopy prep.
